MANAUS – Conducted by Waldick Junior, the first round of conversation of the Week of Journalism of the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam), entitled “Students of Journalism in pandemic: Settings and Bugs”, brings the theme “The oxygen crisis in Manaus”. Also participating in the chat are A Crítica newspaper reporter Lucas Vasconcelos and CNN Brasil journalist José Brito.

“The week that wore me out the most, the oxygen crisis was something that marked my whole life. A critical moment to see who was dying and who was living”, said the reporter from A Critica newspaper.

CNN’s envoy to Manaus to cover the crisis in January, José Brito also shared his experience covering the pandemic. “Nothing prepared me for the scenes I saw when I arrived in Manaus, I can’t get out of my head the cars circulating through the streets with alert on, sirens everywhere. Arriving in front of those gas companies and seeing desperate people, people revived in hospital doors, a war scenario”, recalled the journalist.

The communication professionals continue the conversation about the challenges of covering the pandemic in a live broadcast on the YouTube channel of TV Cenarium.
