After first case of Omicron in the AM, director of the FVS alerts: ‘Say yes to the vaccine’

MANAUS – After the first case of the Ômicron variant of the Covid-19 pandemic is confirmed in Amazonas state on Tuesday, 4, the director-president of the Foundation for Health Surveillance – Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP), Tatyana Amorim, reinforced the request for the population to do their part and say yes to vaccination against coronavirus.

“The first case was of a vaccinated patient who had mild symptoms of the disease, so we reinforce for those people who have not yet been vaccinated do your part and attend the health units and say yes to the vaccine”, warned Tatyana, exclusively to CENARIUM MAGAZINE.

The patient infected with the Omicron variant is a 27-year-old Brazilian woman, living in São Paulo, who arrived in Manaus from Fortaleza on December 21, 2021, with flu symptoms. The information was released early Tuesday evening, 4, by the State Department of Health, through the FVS-RCP, after receiving a genomic surveillance report issued by the Institute Leonidas and Maria Deane (Fiocruz-Amazon).

In a note, the Government of Amazonas said that when she arrived in the capital, the patient was collected at the testing station at the Eduardo Gomes International Airport, where she tested positive for Covid-19 and was oriented to home isolation for 14 days. According to the text, the woman had mild symptoms of cough and coryza and with a complete vaccination schedule, including the booster dose.

To CENARIUM, the director-president of FVS-RCP, Tatyana Amorim, stressed that the prevention measures to the new variant Omicron are the same that are in force to prevent the new coronavirus, such as hand hygiene, the mandatory use of masks, avoid enclosed and poorly ventilated places and adopt social distancing.

Covid-19

Until this Tuesday, 4, Amazonas has registered a total of 434,142 cases of Covid-19, with 13,838 deaths caused by the disease. According to the FVS-RCP, through the Daily Covid-19 Bulletin, edition 640, 172 new people were diagnosed with the pandemic until this afternoon. In the last 24 hours, there have been no deaths due to the coronavirus.

Of the 434,142 confirmed cases in Amazonas until this Tuesday, 4th, 206,496 are from Manaus (47.56%) and 227,646 from the interior of the state (52.44%).

Among the confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Amazonas, there are 57 patients hospitalized in Manaus, 34 in clinical beds (three in the private network and 31 in the public network), 22 in ICU (one in the private network and 21 in the public network), and one in a red room. In the public health network in the interior of the state, there are other 29 patients hospitalized in clinical beds with Covid-19.
