MANAUS – Completely revitalized, the Government of Amazonas held the reopening of the Rio Negro Park, located in the neighborhood of São Raimundo, in the Midwest zone of Manaus, this Sunday, 24th. On the day of its 352nd anniversary, Manaus gained one more space that will be used, mainly, as a leisure and cultural area for the Amazonian population.
According to the state governor, Wilson Lima, the government’s commitment is to improve the lives of the people of Amazonas. “When we join forces we can advance much further. Despite the fact that we had the biggest health crisis of all times, despite the fact that we had the biggest flood, today Amazonas and Manaus have advances like never before”, he reported.
The adjustments at the site were executed by the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), which readjusted the painting of the benches, as well as baskets for garbage collection, replacement of toys that are part of the playground, the outdoor gym equipment, and cleaning of the drainage channels with restoration of the sewage facilities.
Schedule
This Sunday, the park had a program with physical activities coordinated by the Amazonas High Performance Foundation (Faar), children’s games, work with storytelling, and projects for walking through the park. Also during the day, the artists Lori, Chermie, Tina, among others, make an artistic project on the wall of the parking lot.
At 5pm the site also hosted the third edition of the project “Bora pro Parque”, which aims to offer workshops on “Papietagem de garrafa” (Bottle papermaking), with Wilanir Lima, and a course on “Customization in a box”, with Henrique Violante. A capoeira circle is also scheduled to take place with the Flip group and Vaderlan Santos.
History
Rio Negro Park was inaugurated on April 30, 2015, built in an area of environmental, urbanistic and housing recovery of the Government of Amazonas. The site is a consequence of actions of the Social and Environmental Program of Igarapés de Manaus (Prosamim). Currently, the park has a 1,750-meter long walking and running track, as well as a playground for children and equipment for open-air gymnastics.
