Cartoonist and musician Paulo Caruso returns to the stages of São Paulo with a MPB and jazz repertoire

MANAUS – To celebrate the return to the stages of São Paulo’s nightlife, musician Paulo Caruso will receive Friday, 19, the public for a full piano show. Entitled “Paulo Caruso & Piano”, the event will take place at Pira Grill Carnes and Pizzas, on Wizard Street, Vila Madalena neighborhood, in São Paulo’s West region, with a repertoire of MPB and jazz.

The musician, who is also a cartoonist and caricaturist, will perform from 7:30 pm (Brasília time) at the place that is already known for live music shows. Other well-known performers in São Paulo’s capital nightlife such as Quarteto Nossa Simpatia, Cacá Lima, and Mário Vácellos will perform at the venue known for its cuisine and good music.

The selection of songs will bring great works by Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Cartola, Pixinguinha, other jazz musicians, and even songs composed by Paulo Caruso himself. The cover charge is R$ 15.

The artist

Paulo José Hespanha Caruso, known as Paulo Caruso, is the twin brother of Chico Caruso, also a cartoonist, father of filmmaker Paulinho Caruso and uncle of comedian Fernando Caruso. He worked for ISTOÉ magazine, where he signed the weekly cartoon with the title Avenida Brasil, which dealt mainly with aspects of Brazilian politics.

Caruso became known for the ironic scenes that accompany Brazilian history. Currently, he publishes his cartoons in Época magazine and draws for the program “Roda Viva”, on TV Cultura. Caruso is also the author of Histórias em Quadrinhos and musician of the Conjunto Nacional band.
