MANAUS – Going against the health measures to contain the advance of Omicron variant in Brazil, the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), announced, on Friday, 3, during a press conference, that the State is released to hold the holidays, upon presentation of report with more than 70% of vaccination coverage by municipality. During the press conference, the State Attorney General, Ricardo Sefer, reaffirmed that whoever doesn’t comply with the requirement can be fined. According to Ricardo, everyone needs to have proof of vaccination, either printed or digital, and an official document with a photo. “If you leave home, take your vaccination card. In case of non-compliance, we will have warnings, the possibility of embargo, a fine that can reach up to R$ 50 thousand for legal entities, and from R$ 150 for individuals”, he explained.

Application

In the opportunity, Helder took the opportunity to launch an application that will serve as a passport to indicate vaccination locations throughout the state. The governor highlighted that the application Passport for Vaccination will be available for the IOS and Android operating systems as of Monday, the 6th. “We saw ourselves obligated to create incentive mechanisms for those who are vaccinated and to stimulate the reflection of those who are not vaccinated”, reaffirmed Helder.

The governor told that there will also be a linking of the payment of social benefits, such as the Renda Pará, which pays R$ 100 to self-employed workers during the economic crisis in the Covid-19 pandemic, and now, according to Helder, it will be necessary to prove that the person has taken the two doses of the vaccine or the single dose. Another measure announced by the governor, was the law approved in the Legislative Assembly of Pará (Alepa), which creates health passport to state public servants, to date, the state has 105 thousand servers in the folder.

Situation on alert

The state representative explained about the situation of the regions with more critical situations in the state, such as Araguaia, Baixo Amazonas, Caetés, Tapajós and Xingu. In addition, he reports that the Tapajós region has more than 50% of the population that has not taken any doses. “We have, for example, the hospital in Altamira, with 18 patients, of these 14 have not vaccinated. We cannot ignore the science or the data that show that those who are vaccinated can even get infected, but have no symptoms or mild symptoms, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the vaccine”, he said.
