MANAUS – The indigenous Alagoas Elâine Souza, 20 years, and Bruno Ferraz, 29 years, were elected, on Monday night, 29, Miss and Mister Brazil 2021, in a contest held in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul. On social networks, emotional, the young woman proudly recalled her career as a model and said she lived a mix of feelings to get where she is now.
“I entered the miss world less than a year ago, and look where I am now. It is a mix of feelings, joy, gratitude and euphoria … And fear, anxiety and more. I needed a lot of people to prepare me for Miss Brazil, and they did not deny me help! I arrived, but I think it is better to use arrived! Because I bring with me a thousand and many other people. I bring you, you, and you! I bring the us and the together! I didn’t win alone, it was us!”, declared Elâine, in a post on Instagram.
Born in Pariconha, in the countryside of Alagoas, Elâine is from the Katokinn ethnic group, Afro-descendant, and a psychology student. She highlights that, during the confinement for the contest, she had the honor of meeting wonderful people, misses and misters with great potential and path to follow, and remembers about the difficulties she encountered along the way.
“I found it very difficult to travel to another state, another region… But I arrived well, everything worked out, I believe it was even more than okay”, said the indigenous woman. In the publication, the young Miss Brazil also recalls all the support she received, whether with registration, clothes, makeup, food, or prayer.
“The question is with what courage I went!!! With the strength of the northeastern, Alagoas, indigenous and Brazilian woman! With grit and determination, within what I am and could offer! The big night was wonderful, lots of light, camera and jurors. Anything could happen, including falling, slipping, not winning or winning. The presenters were impeccable, and the ambassadors perfect, the Miss Mysteries and Miss 2020 splendid! I am very grateful that I can now be part of this family, and you can be sure that I will do justice!”, wrote the new Miss Brazil.
The indigenous woman received the Miss Brazil 2021 sash and crown from the hands of Juliana Malveira, from Amazonas, Miss Brazil 2020. Bruno received the sash from Anthony Marquez, Mister Brazil 2020. The event was broadcast on social networks and YouTube. Together, Elâine and Bruno will now represent the country in international beauty contests.
