BRASILIA (DF) – During an interview given to a media vehicle from Manaus, the lawmaker José Ricardo “I would like to be a candidate for governor, this is my effective desire, I don’t know if there will be political possibilities for this”, said the PT member.

José Ricardo has been a member of the Workers Party in Amazonas since 1995 and says that there hasn’t been a formal conversation with the party leadership about his intention to run for the government, even because the electoral legislation scenario can change. The National Congress is analyzing issues such as campaign financing and the possibilities of alliances between parties for the 2022 election.

The parliamentarian of Amazonas believes that PT should launch a broader internal debate regarding the next elections after the definition of electoral rules in early October. “The priorities of the party are the candidature for the Presidency of the Republic and the increase in the federal bench of the PT, the national decisions will influence the direction of the actions of the PT in all states.

In relation to the scenario of next year’s electoral dispute, José Ricardo believes that the parties of the left should have a very strong dialogue to build a solid alliance at a national level. “Our fight is to have coherent alliances that can bring a proposal that changes the reality of our country, with social inclusion policies and the generation of employment and income, which is what our country urgently needs.

The Workers Party congressman also commented on a statement made by former lawmaker Eron Bezerra, PCdoB politician, who spoke about the performance of the Amazon bench in Congress that, in the communist opinion, lost much in representativeness in the current legislature. José Ricardo complimented the former senator Vanessa Grazziotin who, in his opinion, is one of the best parliamentarians that Amazonas has ever had, extremely active. “If she is going to run for a seat in the House of Representatives, Amazonas will only win,” said José Ricardo.

Questioned about the performance of the current Amazon bench in Congress, José Ricardo said that in relation to issues that are considered almost unanimous, the bench is united, an example is the defense of Manaus Free Trade Zone ( ZFM) model. But he regrets when agendas come from the federal government that affect the population in full and are approved by the parliamentarians of the Amazon. The most recent one, cited by the congressman, was the approval of PL 591/21, which authorizes the exploitation by private enterprise of all postal services, in practice, the privatization of the Correios. “I cannot understand how a congressman votes against his constituents,” he said.
