MANAUS – The Amazonas Governor, Wilson Lima (PSC), launched a new incentive program for the primary sector on the morning of Wednesday, 28, in Novo Paraíso community, at kilometer 8 of BR-174. The Summer Plan, launched on the Farmer’s Day, will have an investment of more than R $ 34 million for family farmers and rural producers for technical and structural development of the sector.

Under the coordination of the State Secretary of Rural Production (Sepror), the plan will have the support of local offices of the Institute of Agricultural and Sustainable Forestry Development of Amazonas (Idam). They will be responsible for facilitating the access to already existing programs, such as the Soil Correction (Procalcário); Agricultural Mechanization (Promecanização); Intervention in Impermeable Areas (SOS Vicinais) and the access to technologies in priority activities by the Rural Technical Assistance (Ater).

In the occasion, the governor emphasized that the primary sector, as well as the workers, is a management priority, since, according to him “no governor has looked so much at the family farmer and the rural producer as Wilson Lima”. The phrase is also reinforced among the residents of the road branches themselves.

The president of the Novo Paraíso Community, José Aildo, says that he finally felt heard. “Today things are changing, if you came here years ago, you wouldn’t find the branch like this, well taken care of. The governor did what nobody had ever done for us before”, he affirmed. The community leader also celebrated the investment, after a troubled period due to the pandemic and state restrictions.

Repavement of the roads

Besides access to the programs, part of the Summer Plan also allocates resources for the recovery and even the complete pavement of the streets. The area of difficult access has complaints of flooding and blocked stretches due to the lack of structure. According to the area’s producers, this scenario is common in branches such as the one in the Novo Paraíso community and affects the flow of commodities to Manaus.

“We had a great difficulty, where our vehicles were damaged, where sometimes the production spoiled for lack of transport to deliver on time or when it rained a lot and we had no way to go to the city,” says the producer, Vanderlei Barboza. However, after the beginning of the work, he sees a spark of hope. “It is almost a privilege to receive this service, governor Wilson Lima knows what families need, so this investment is a big hit,” he concludes.

Of the R$34 million invested in the Summer Plan, R$20 million are for earth-moving services, cleaning the sides, removing useless material, excavating and loading material, compacting the embankment, regularizing the subgrade, sub-base and base.

Landowner Dignity

On the occasion, the governor confirmed to the community residents that in the future he will distribute definitive land titles to all the residents of the branch. The statement, which was celebrated by the families, is still going through a process of initial negotiations. The area is in the branch line at kilometer 8 of BR-174 is extensive and needs to be divided.

“Here there are large properties that do not belong to farmers, so we are prioritizing the areas that belong to farmers so that by the end of the year we can deliver these titles”, concluded Wilson Lima.

At the moment, these negotiations include a complete mapping of the area and identification of the properties. Likewise, other parts of Manaus are also going through the same process and, in August, definitive titles of populous communities in the capital will be delivered to the residents.
