Vaccination of children 5 to 11 years begins on Monday in Manaus

MANAUS – Vaccination against the new coronavirus for children aged 5 to 11 years begins on Monday, 17, from 9 am, in Manaus. The opening of the pediatric immunization campaign will be staggered and will contemplate, at this first moment, the public children with comorbidities or with permanent disabilities (PcDs).

The governor Wilson Lima (PSC) must accompany the beginning of the campaign in the City of Children Park, in the south of Manaus. According to the State, besides the capital, are more than 34 thousand immunizers that will be distributed by the Foundation for Health Surveillance Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto the municipalities within the Amazon.

In all, there are four vaccination points for children in the capital of Amazonas. Next to the City of Children Park, there will also be services at the Worker’s Club-Sesi, in the East zone, and the Magdalena Arce Daou Community Center, in the West zone, operating from 9am to 4pm. The fourth point will be at the shopping Manaus Via Norte, North zone, which will operate from 10am to 4pm. The goal is to vaccinate 90% of the population from 5 to 11 years, estimated at 260,721 children.

Second group

Vaccination continues according to the availability of immunizers, always following the priority groups. After children with comorbidity or PcDs, indigenous children and quilombolas, from group 2, will be vaccinated. Next, children living in long-stay institutions, such as shelters and orphanages (group 3) will receive their first doses.

Group 4 is the general population in the recommended age group (group 4), contemplating one age at a time, in descending order (from 11 to 5 years old).

At the time of vaccination, it is necessary to remember that children need to be healthy to receive the immunizer. Parents or guardians need to note that children, like adults, cannot have received other vaccines from the children’s calendar in the last 15 days.

Documentation

Parents or guardians must take their children with them, and they must carry mandatory documentation with identification, such as the child’s birth certificate or original identification document with photo, national Health System card (SUS) or CPF, and the vaccination booklet.

Children with comorbidities need to present a medical report that proves the condition. PcD children, on the other hand, do not need this report.

In Brazil

This Monday also begins the vaccination of children in 11 Brazilian capitals. They are: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Curitiba, Maceió, Teresina, Goiânia, Cuiabá, Belém, Rio Branco, Macapá and Porto Velho. The cities must follow the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and vaccinate priority groups (children with permanent disabilities, comorbidities, indigenous or quilombolas).
