MANAUS – Countdown to the Manaus International Championship. On Monday, 23, the Guerreiras do Brasil began to present themselves for the FIFA Date period, which runs from November 22 to December 1. Early on the morning of Monday, 22, goalkeeper Leticia and midfielder Ana Victoria, both of Benfica, were the first to arrive at the concentration, at the Holiday Inn hotel.

At noon, it was the turn of the defenders Bruninha (Santos), Tainara (Palmeiras), Lauren (São Paulo), Antonia and Daiane (Madrid C.F.F); the midfielders Julia Bianchi and Ary Borges (Palmeiras), Duda and Formiga (São Paulo) and Ivana (Manchester United); and the forwards Kerolin, Geyse and Gabi Nunes (Madrid C.F.F).

The coaching staff is also already in the capital of Amazonas. Meanwhile, defender Katrine (Palmeiras), goalkeeper Lorena (Grêmio), midfielder Angelina (O.L Reign) and forwards Giovana (Levante UD) and Debinha (North Carolina Courage) arrived in the afternoon, at 4 pm. 

Three-time champions with Corinthians, midfielder Adriana and defenders Tamires and Yasmim join the group on Tuesday at 12 noon, and the first training session of the full team takes place at 5 pm, at the 3B Amazon CT.

Formiga’s farewell

One of the most beloved and remarkable players of the National Team, the 43-year-old midfielder Formiga, says goodbye to the Brazilian team in the first game of the tournament, against India. The athlete is the only player, including among men, who has participated in seven World Cups defending the yellow jersey.

Upon arrival at the hotel, Formiga was surprised when she got to her room, which was decorated with several pictures of her wearing the national jersey. In one of them, the inscription read: thank you for everything, Formiga. “The torture has already begun… I would like to thank you”, she said, smiling.
