MANAUS – The governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (PSC), announced, on the morning of Wednesday, 6, during a visit to the city of Manacapuru, 100 kilometers away from Manaus, that he will send to the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) two messages that benefit the mototaxi drivers of the State. The first one refers to the Social CNH for low-income population and the second one is the exemption of fees for mandatory qualification courses for the category. The governor also announced the distribution of helmets.
“We are sending to the Legislative Assembly, today, two important messages: one about the CNH Social, which will benefit those people who cannot afford to pay all those costs to get a driver’s license. Another one that we are forwarding is about the exemption of the fees for the mandatory qualification courses for the category. Besides this, starting in December, we will deliver 40 thousand helmets to all motorcycle taxi drivers in the State of Amazonas. This year alone we will deliver 10 thousand, starting in December”, promised the governor Wilson Lima.
According to the Department of Traffic of the State of Amazonas (Detran-AM), to take the course of motorcycle taxi driver, the driver must be licensed for at least two years in category A and be over 21 years. The course has an hour load of 30 hours and costs R$ 51.45. There is also a 10-hour refresher course, which costs R$6.55.
The CNH Social program began in 2017 in the state and, at the time, was aimed at people over 18 years, residents in the Amazon for at least two years, with monthly family income of up to three salaries or who were unemployed for over a year and, still, enrolled in government social programs, such as the Bolsa Família program. People with CNH processes already started, as well as people who had committed crimes while driving a vehicle, or had their CNH revoked or suspended, could not participate in the selection.
