MANAUS – The Amazonas Basketball Federation (Febam) released on Tuesday, 1, the calendar of official competitions of the sport planned for 2022 in the state. According to the document of the entity, affiliated to the Brazilian Basketball Confederation, the tournaments should take place between the months of March and November this year, with age group from 11 years old.

Athletes in the categories under-11, under-13, under-15, under-18, under-19, under-21, and adult will participate in the championships. According to Febam, the values and details of the competitions scheduled for March will be released soon.

“The calendar was released with the expectation that the conditions related to the pandemic will allow the competitions (with or without public), in the month of March. We have good expectations for this year, since in 2021 we have already successfully resumed some shorter competitions and we hope that in 2022 we can successfully fulfill our calendar, giving due value to our basketball”, Febam president Professor Ali Assi said in an interview with CENARIUM.

According to the president, the participation of the teams is free, and it can be a club, school, association, or team, without legal constitution. The teams interested in participating should pay attention to the social networks of the Amazonas basketball federation.

The calendar

The Amazonas basketball season starts in March with the Febam Victor Veras Cup, in the under-21 men’s category, and with the Febam Antonio Vela Cup, in the adult women’s category. According to the calendar, the registration period for the two competitions is from February 10 to 25, 2022.

The competitions will continue with the Amazonian Championship, in the under-18 male and female categories, scheduled to take place in March, April, and May of this year. The registration for the tournament will take place from March 1st to 15th.

The Manaus City Cup, in the adult male and female categories, is scheduled to take place in April, May, and July. The registration period is from April 1st to the 15th of the same month. The Mini Festival, in the under-11 male and female categories, will be registered and held in April.
