MANAUS – “It is necessary to form a democratic front, establish dialogue and govern for all”. The reflection is from the president of the Instituto Não Aceito Corrupção (Inac) and justice attorney of the Public Ministry of São Paulo, Roberto Livianu, who coordinated the creation of the book “200 years of Brazil’s independence: from the margins of Ipiranga to the margins of society”.

The work is a collection of critical articles about the political system that has governed Brazil since its historic discovery and its impact on various areas of society. On November 25, the publication will be launched in the capital of Amazonas, during an event that will be held in the auditorium of the Public Ministry of the State of Amazonas (MPE-AM), in the West zone of the city.

In an interview for

Livianu made an analysis of the democratic advances and setbacks in Brazil, punctuating the last years, the political polarization and antidemocratic acts.

“No power should overlap with another. We do not have a 4th power or a moderating power. We must respect the constitutional separation between powers”, said Livianu, who is concerned about the attacks on the Supreme Court (STF).

“The legitimacy resulting from the ballot box is a relevant asset to the president-elect, who should have much serenity to understand the demonstrations that have been occurring and should act with a republican and democratic sense”, said the prosecutor.

It was this republican feeling that motivated Roberto Livianu to invite several specialists to talk about the bicentennial of Brazil’s independence, celebrated this year, and about the evolution of politics and social rights in the country.

The initiative is a partnership between Inac, the Democratic Prosecutor’s Office and Quartier Latin publishing house. Names such as Gonzalo Vecina, creator of SUS in Brazil; former Education Minister Renato Janine; former ambassador Rubens Barbosa; journalist and president of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, Merval Pereira; among others, sign the publication.
