MANAUS – The journalist Maria Auxiliadora Paula de Paiva assumed this Thursday, 31st, the presidency of the Association of Journalists and Writers of Brazil, Amazonas coordination (AJEB-AM). The event took place at the Palácio da Justiça Cultural Center. Maria Auxiliadora Paula de Paiva assumes as coordinating president, the vice-president will be Eulália Bichara Rodrigues and Maria Paula Litaiff, CEO of CENARIUM MAGAZINE, will be the second vice-president.

“Today we are pulsar, verb and life. There are hundreds of us and we are spread all over Brazil”, poetized Maria Auxiliadora.

“I am very happy with this moment. It is a new step that the association of journalists and writers of Amazonas will give. We come from the first administration of the association whose president was the writer Kátia Colares, who paved the way for AJEB so that today we could get here. So we intend to give continuity to everything that writer Kátia built within the institution and move forward”, she highlighted.

The new president defended that the association always works with the feminine universe. “Our objectives are to expand the participation of women in the publishing market and also in the literary market, which are very important guidelines for us, but we also intend to expand our capacity for action”, she said.

Goal and action

According to the new president, AJEB’s reason for existing is precisely for the valorization of feminine thinking. “The institution brings together women who have the gift of writing, the gift for the artistic passion of poetry, of the more literary text, and also those women who have the gift of writing, but also from the labor point of view, who work writing”, commented the new president.

“We understand that this function is very important because it is the only way we have to communicate with future generations, with those people who will probably be born after we cease to exist, but when we make a historical record through our writing, through the social moment we are living and through the feminine thinking. We are a female institution, we end up occupying and making women occupy more space within society”, she added.
