MANAUS – The political articulations of pre-candidates to the Government of Amazonas do not spare not even the state benefits granted to 10 thousand active military policemen in the State. “This is wrong. If these benefits continue without our inclusion, we will go to court until the rights are equalized”, said the reserve colonel Walter Cruz to CENARIUM, to justify the interest in asking for the suspension of the benefits announced to active military police officers last Friday, 3.

This Sunday, 5, information reported by the site “The Power” indicated that Walter Cruz and Amadeu Soares are articulating against the benefits announced by Governor Wilson Lima (PSC). According to the site, the two work directly with former governor Amazonino Mendes. However, Walter Cruz informed CENARIUM that he is not working with the former governor. “The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the equality of benefits granted to military police officers who are active. We, who are in the reserve, need to be included in this list of military policemen who will benefit. It is unfair, because imagine a colonel earning less than someone with a lower rank. This is wrong. If these benefits continue without our inclusion, we will go to court”, said Walter Cruz.

According to the site “The Power”, the source, who preferred not to be identified, reported that at a meeting on the morning of Saturday, 4, the idea discussed was to promote a “mutiny” between twelve colonels reserve who are dissatisfied to press both the command of PM-AM and the Government of Amazonas to grant benefits, too, for them. “Until the group of retired officers is also contemplated, they are willing to harm the nearly 10,000 families of active PMs and firefighters”, revealed the source, according to the local website.

The two colonels have held positions of trust in the governments of Amazonino. Amadeu Soares was already holder of the Secretary of Public Safety (SSP-AM), where he has also served as extraordinary secretary. Also according to the source, the officers are willing to do “whatever it takes” and evaluate a lawsuit to prevent, including, that the increase and improvements in bonuses already announced are paid to active military officers in January 2022.

According to the source, at a certain moment of the meeting it was clear that the group’s request went beyond salary benefits. “You could clearly see that they see this as a possibility to hinder the current government. If the troop doesn’t receive the raise in January, Wilson (Lima) looks bad with us and it’s a political gain for them”, he explained.

The CENARIUM tried to contact Colonel Amadeu, who also attended the meeting, according to Walter Cruz, but until the publication of this story, the phone calls were not answered and the messages sent by WhatsApp were ignored. The report also awaits a position of former governor Amazonino Mendes on the dealings that occurred at the meeting.

Benefits under attack

On Friday, 3, the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, presented a set of proposals for modernization and professional appreciation of military police officers and firemen of the state. The laws equate the social security of these categories to that of the Armed Forces, change rules for overtime work, and create a salary bonus for military officers who complete specialization, master’s and doctorate courses.

With the state government’s proposal, military policemen and firemen will now count on a Course Bonus (GC), incorporated to the civil servant’s salary after the course is finished. The bonuses will be 25% for specialization, 30% for master’s degrees and 35% for doctorates. With this, a soldier, for example, will be able to count on a bonus of R$ 1,207.86, if he does a specialization, and a colonel, of R$ 7,792.61, when he completes a doctorate.

The government of the state of Amazonas also reformulated the system of payment for extra work. The Extra Work Bonus (GTE) is transformed in Extra Gratified Service (SEG), which becomes R$ 40 per hour. With this, a soldier who earns a GTE of R$910 per month will be able to receive up to R$1,920 for the same hours worked.

Among the benefits of the new regulations provided in Law No. 13,954, dated December 16, 2019, are greater social security, as well as parity and integrality in cases of pensioners. Currently, the pension corresponds to a percentage of the military’s remuneration. With the change, the value will correspond to the full remuneration.
