“Historical challenge”

In addition to Marcos Aurélio Choy and Wilson Lima’s speech, the current national president of the Brazilian Bar Association, Beto Simonetti, also gave the welcoming words and highlighted the main challenge of the bar.

“The challenge of the bar is historical. It is to keep the order fulfilling its constitutional role. It’s to keep the democratic rule of law balanced, to honor citizenship, to protect civil society and, above all, to be vigilant in the electoral process, so that the sovereignty of the vote is enforced in Brazil, after this election”, said Simonetti.

At the ceremony, the new president Jean Cleuter thanked the votes and emphasized that the pillars of the new administration will be the fight for the valorization of the legal profession and against the retreat of democracy, besides the defense of the economic model of the Manaus Free Trade Zone.

“The defense of the Manaus Free Trade Zone is essential for the regional development and balance of the federation, with ponderation and tax balance of the entire Brazilian federation. Therefore, the Manaus Free Trade Zone is essential for the maintenance of the development of Amazonas and jobs. The OAB called on all entities, from all powers, to join forces to defend the model, which is essential to our development,” he said.
