MANAUS – The Fire Department confirmed, on the morning of Saturday, 16, that the body of a woman located in the metropolitan area of Manaus (AM) is the skydiver Ana Carolina Silva, who was missing since the afternoon of Friday, 15, after parachute jump in the capital of Amazonas.

Previously, the commanding general of the corporation, Orleilson Ximenes, had informed that the evidence indicated that the body was the parachutist, but it was still necessary for the family to make the identification. The woman’s body was found in the region of the District of Cacau Pirêra, municipality of Iranduba, in the metropolitan region.

“We had the information that a body was located and that it is the body of a woman. At first I have already asked the IML [Medico-Legal Institute] vehicle, which is here at the head of the bridge [Phelippe Daou], to go to the site to make the qualified identification, but by the characteristics, the indications point that it is the body of the parachutist who was missing”, said the commander general, before confirmation.

Missing

According to the Fire Department, Ana Carolina and the lawyer Luiz Henrique Cardelli, as well as other skydivers, were surprised by the strong storm that hit Manaus on Friday and were dragged away from the landing site. Two of them fell on a public road. The information said that the other two had fallen near the Rio Negro, where the Fire Department concentrated the search on Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The corporation’s speedboat located the material of one of the paratroopers. The searches are also being conducted by agents from the Amazonas Secretary of Public Security (SSP-AM), with support from the Integrated Department of Air Operations (Dioa) and the Executive Assistant Secretary of Operations (Seaop), the Amazonas Military Police (PM-AM), the Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM), and the Brazilian Navy.

According to information passed on to the fire department, 14 parachutists were in an aircraft, ten managed to land, but four had their landing route diverted. Two men were located and rescued in neighborhoods in the west of the capital.

Crisis cabinet

On the night of Friday, 15, the SSP-AM installed a crisis cabinet to intensify the search for the missing paratroopers. The crisis cabinet was activated at the headquarters of the Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC), in the south-central zone of Manaus, under the coordination of the Secretary of Public Safety, General Carlos Alberto Mansur.
