In Manaus, Warao children and public 6 to 9 years begin to be vaccinated against Covid-19

MANAUS – In continuing a step of the National Immunization Plan (NIP), children from 5 to 11 years of Warao ethnicity, and children from 6 to 9 years without comorbidities, are being vaccinated, starting Thursday, 27, in Manaus. For the indigenous people, vaccination will take place in shelters, in the Tarumã region, in the West zone.

The immunization is coordinated by the Municipal Health Department (Semsa) that should meet approximately 55 children in the age group that will be contemplated. For children from 6 to 9 years, the four vaccination points will be available for those responsible who wish to immunize the child.

According to Semsa, the points of service are the City of Children Park, in the South; the Worker’s Club (Sesi), in the East; and the Living Center Magdalena Arce Daou, in the West, with operation from 9am to 16h, and shopping Manaus Via Norte, in the North, where children can be seen from 10h to 16h.

Documents

To have children vaccinated, guardians must present a birth certificate or original identification document with photo, national SUS card or CPF, and the vaccination booklet. It is also necessary that the child has not been vaccinated with other immunizers in the previous 15 days, and also that he/she has no symptoms of any acute disease.

Vaccination of children

Last Monday, 17, Manaus opened vaccination of children against Covid-19 with comorbidities or disabilities (PcDs). According to the Ministry of Health (MS), the population of 5 to 11 years in the capital of Amazonas represent 260,721. Among the guidelines is that children must be healthy to receive the vaccine and not being able to receive another vaccine in the children’s calendar during the last 15 days.
