VILHENA (RO) – Threats of armed attack, made by a Twitter profile since March 28, led the State Department of Education (Seduc-RO) to suspend classes in one of the oldest schools in Porto Velho, the Carmela Dutra State Institute of Education, in activity for over 70 years.

In a note sent to CENARIUM MAGAZINE, the government of Rondônia, through Seduc, clarifies that it is already aware of the situation and has taken steps to ensure the physical integrity of students and servers. The activities were suspended on Tuesday, 5, the day on which, according to the profile, which publishes pictures of firearms and threats against students and teachers, indicated as a date to perform “a little surprise” in the school unit.

“Seduc triggered the State Secretariat for Security, Defense and Citizenship (Sesdec) and both are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and physical integrity of the school community. According to the direction of the school, as soon as it became aware of the virtual threats made through the profile on Twitter, this Monday, 4, registered occurrence and communicated the 1st Battalion of the Military Police, which will strengthen the police security”, reported the state government.

“I hope to take thousands of people with me to hell”, wrote the author of the profile in one of the posts, indicating the possibility of committing suicide after carrying out the alleged massacre.

Civil Police investigates

In addition to the military reinforcement for the school, the Civil Police of the capital of Rondonia have taken over the investigations, but it is still not known who would be behind the account on the social network.

“Soon this account will drop like the other one, and when it does, I’m going to go to plan 2; it involves my little beauties being used,” stated the profile which previously revealed that the firearms are his father’s and that he lets him “clean” them. As predicted by the user, the profile is no longer available. 

Despite the patrolling, the management of the Carmela Dutra Institute and Seduc-RO have not yet informed whether the suspension of school activities will be maintained during the week.
