In Roraima, indigenous children are hit by car on the BR-174 highway

MANAUS – Two indigenous children were run over by a 53-year-old man on the morning of Thursday, 8, in the urban perimeter of BR-174, in Roraima. The victims were taken to a health facility and the driver was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which came back negative.

To the Military Police, the driver informed that he was travelling along the highway in the direction of Cauamé Spa – Pátio Roraima Shopping when he saw a group of indigenous people. As he approached, two children, who were holding hands, ran into the middle of the road. He hit the brakes but was unable to avoid being run over and one of the children ended up outside the road.

The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) performed first aid at the scene of the accident and took the victims to the Hospital Santo Antonio, located in downtown Boa Vista. Forensics was also called and found that the driver was not drunk. The suspect’s car is duly regularized, according to police information.

The case was presented in the 1st Police District, in the State, for the appropriate measures. AMAZON AGENCY is awaiting information on the state of health of the victims.
