The city government also justifies that the adoption of immediate action was taken due to the increase in cases of malaria, dengue and Covid-19. The measure aims to contain the damage and avoid compromising the safety of the property and the population.

The quota of the Juruá reached the mark of 13.38m and continues rising. Missing only 46cm to reach the historic mark of 2017, where the river reached 13,84m. The flood has already caused flooding in at least six neighborhoods in the urban area and 96 communities in the municipality. In total, the city government confirms that 3,715 families have been affected.

“Our municipal civil defense team is on site every day, providing all the assistance to the affected residents. We have already started, with our own resources, the construction of rafts, we have also raised the floors of houses and we will continue to give full assistance to the affected residents in both urban and rural areas”, said Mayor Maria Oliveira to CENARIUM MAGAZINE.

On Tuesday morning, 15, the mayor, together with the secretary of civil defense Anísio Saturnino, visited one of the neighborhoods affected by the flood to monitor the situation of the residents.
