MANAUS – A fire of large proportions hit a warehouse of the packaging factory PCE (Papéis, Caixas e Embalagens Industriais Ltda.), at Avenida Autaz Mirim, Armando Mendes, near the Samsung Roundabout, in the morning of Monday, 30.

According to preliminary information, the factory hit by the fire produces packaging for CCE (Commerce of Electronic Components) and other industries in the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM).

The same preliminary information says that a lining machine overheated, starting the fire in the corrugator sector.

The fire started around 8:30 am this Monday, 30, and was first reported by residents of the area around the company. Traffic was diverted from the São José traffic circle to the Samsumg traffic circle, preventing the passage between the

Company employees were evacuated and the activities were suspended at the PCE on Monday, June 30. The building will still be evaluated by the State Civil Defense to verify its condition and announce its possible interdiction.

Cracks appeared in the warehouse hit by the fire.

Teams from the Fire Department are on site to control the fire. So far, there is no news of fatalities or injuries from the fire. More than 80 firemen and 15 vehicles were mobilized to contain the fire.

In addition to the firefighters, brigade members from industries neighboring the PCE have also mobilized to try to contain the fire.
