MANAUS – To ensure the serial production of the work “The Archmage – Tower of Light”, the Parintinense author and songwriter, Ronaldo Barbosa, made available a lot of information about the book on the crowdfunding platform Catarse. On the page, it is possible to find the most diverse forms of financial support that goes from the most economical to the most exclusive, and anyone can collaborate, including via PIX.

“It is the opportunity to acquire the work with its collectibles (rewards) before the editorial pre-sale,” explains the author of the book classified as a fiction and fantasy novel. The authorial work, according to Ronaldo, took more than 15 years to be done and is the first of a series of four books composing a tetralogy.

“The Archmage embraces several concepts from religions and mythologies, legends and stories, where the magician is always the central figure that crossed line of all these stories. A true journey through a completely original and unique magical universe,” explains Ronaldo.

Inspirations and storyline

The author reveals that he was inspired by works such as “The Lord of the Rings”, “Harry Potter”, by the British author Neil Gaiman responsible for producing works such as “Beautiful Curses” and “American Gods” and also by productions such as “Artemis Fowl”. “It started right in high school, right after I went to Manaus and had the opportunity to read these works suggested by classmates which helped me expand my mind and my world. I ended up being absorbed by the geek university and it resulted in this work,” he recalls.

According to the writer, the book, with more than 600 pages, tells the story of a boy who discovers he is a wizard and from then on trails paths through difficulties until he reaches his own annihilation and ascension in the powerful form of a wizard. Throughout the book, the character is led by a wizard and transcends other worlds to conquer the so-called “astras” (magic weapons) that in the future may grant him the affective title of wizard, since he is only an apprentice.

“From there, I bring new concepts such as ‘magocracy’, ‘terramacists’, Mihr concepts, from various studies of ancient mythologies, concepts of the occult. I bring the light of the world within this great story and plot,” Barbosa points out.

To enrich the material even more, Ronaldo invited several artists, some of them from Parintiná to add a touch more to the work. Arquimago has an illustrative work that took almost three years to be completed, with an average of 40 illustrations composing the first volume of the tetralogy.

A book, a tree

Whoever wants to contribute to the viability of the project at any level of support will also indirectly contribute to the reforestation of a certain area of the Amazon of 1,000 hectares of land in the region of Agrovila do Caburi, a community located 45 kilometers from Parintins.

Seeds and seedlings will be destined for the planting work, in which the supporters will be the “owners” of the planted tree. A symbolic digital title of ownership will be given over some native trees of the North region of Brazil.

Those who contribute will be entitled to various rewards (Reproduction)

The idea of this parallel project “A book, a tree” is a way to repay people’s affection for the project and for the Amazon. In addition, whoever buys the book will get a reward that goes from a very elaborate bookmark made right here in Parintins to our most valuable item, which is the book cover itself, hand-carved with inlaid stones. A true work of art, a collector’s item, and only a few units will be produced”, Ronaldo reveals.

After the collective funding phase, the publishing phase and pre-sale will be announced by the author. Viseu Editora was chosen for the pre-sale and the digital campaign will be on Amazon.
