MANAUS – The former senator for Amazonas and former mayor of Manaus Arthur Virgílio Neto confirmed, on Friday, 11, the affiliation of the former governor of the state Amazonino Mendes to PSDB, party of which he is state president. According to Virgílio Neto, Mendes will be the candidate name, by the acronym, in the majority election to the state government.

“Amazonino will join PSDB to end any speculation about his candidacy for the state government”, confirmed the former mayor of Manaus in a video published on social networks.

Arthur Virgílio Neto said that the video was an “answer” to speculation about the majority and proportional candidacies of PSDB in the Amazon, and reiterated that “PSDB has quality control” and can not ally with the acronym that “is allied to opponents of PSDB”.

“I am very happy to say that, together with Citizenship, we will have concrete slates within the federation and we also have other worthy parties with interest in walking with us. The next governor of Amazonas, we are sure, will be a toucan, and he will never betray his commitment”, he concluded.
