2018

This is not the first time that Wilson Lima and Amazonino Mendes are adversaries. The political tie between the two also happened in the 2018 municipal elections, equally in state elections that resulted in the victory of Lima’s debutant over Amazonino, who has been governor four times.

In the elections that made him Governor of the State of Amazonas, in the first round, Wilson Lima obtained 33.75% with 596,556 votes when he was still in the PSC and Amazonino Mendes, who was affiliated with PDT received 578,383 votes, adding up to 32.72%. Coadjuvant in the dispute, the current mayor of Manaus David Almeida came in third place in the dispute with 23.60% of the votes.

Wilson’s victory came in the second round. Data from the Superior Electoral Court, show that Wilson had more than 1 million of the valid votes, frustrating Mendes’ dream for a fifth term. Wilson Lima received 1.033.950 votes being 58,50% against 41,50%.
