MANAUS – The senator for Amazonas Mr. Plínio Valério (PSDB) was one of the politicians to vote against the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of the “Bolsa Família” (Family Grant), last Wednesday, 7. Pliny claimed economic reasons for the “NO” that stamped on the Senate panel, but, AMAZON AGENCY found that his public spending in 2022, to date of this report, are of R$ 359,957.97, which would pay 599 ‘Family Grant’ worth R$ 600. If you add the R$ 1,254,581.67 that the senator spent in four years, it would give to pay 2,090 scholarships.

Among the senator’s expenses are expenses with renting property for political office, hiring support services to the parliamentary, airline tickets, water and land national. In the distribution of costs, Mr. Valério spent, from Senate resources, in 2022, R$ 359,957.97. In 2021, were R$ 335,710.69. In 2020, R$ 261,980.95 and, in 2019, R$ 296,932.06, making a total of R$ 1,254,581.67 in four years of operation.

In a social network, the politician listed reasons ranging from the limits of social programs to a commitment to history. The senator posted: “I voted no to the ‘PEC fura teto’ because it is not asking only what is fair. What is fair is ‘Auxílio Brasil’ (Brazil Allowance) and ‘Farmácia Popular’ (Popular Pharmacy). The PT is asking for much more than is necessary. My commitment is also with history”, declared senator Plínio Valério.

“I am not voting against Bolsa Família. It’s a lie. If the resources for the extras are about R$ 70 billion (bi), why does the PT want R$ 145 bi, plus 23 bi of excess revenue?”, questioned the parliamentarian of the PSDB. Then, Mr. Valério cast suspicion on the administrative structure of the future government. “If money is lacking, why does the PT want to create 13 more ministries? In the sequence he said: “PT wants to swim in money”.

Criticism

With the posture, Mr. Plínio Valério was criticized on social networks. The politician was charged by the resource blocks for the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam) and the Federal Institute of Amazonas (Ifam). “And the story of the cut in Ifam and Ufam? It will be just looking to want to be hero of history only from 2023?”, questioned an Instagram user in a post on the senator’s official network. “Ufam without resources because Bolsonaro took money from Education”, wrote another user.

In addition to charging Mr. Valério regarding his position in relation to the blockades in the federal institutions of higher education, internet users have not forgiven the alignment of the senator with the current president Mr. Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The representative of Amazonas voted together with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of the president. “Your president has pierced the spending ceiling 5 times, it was not???? R$ 795 billion in 4 years… and left the country broken. Grow shame on your face”, he said.

In social networks, the criticism came in the tone of charging for cuts and blocking of funds to educational institutions and budget practices of the current government (Reproduction/Internet)

Mandate

Mr. Plínio Valério (PSDB) was elected, in 2018, in a fierce dispute with Mr. Luís Castro, then of the Rede Party, and Mr. Eduardo Braga (MDB). He arrived occupying the first vacancy, and Mr. Braga got the second. He was sworn in January 2019, and since then has appeared little in the media. His performance in the Senate brings together agendas such as the “printed ballot”. Another banner was the CPI of NGOs, to investigate the organizations, their resources and performances.

Of the major standing committees of the Senate, Mr. Plinio Valério only occupies a seat in the Environment Committee. According to the Federal Senate Portal, the parliamentarian made 33 speeches in 2022, 23 in 2021, 36 in 2020 and 76 in 2019. Understanding the proposal

The proposal of president elected Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is to realign the social programme with the aim of turning the economic wheel and removing 33 million Brazilians from the hunger map. The return of the Bolsa Familia proposes a monthly benefit of R$ 600 plus R$ 150 per child up to six years old. A total of R$ 175 billion annually, outside the ceiling. In the vote, the Senate approved – with 64 votes in favour in each of the two rounds, with 16 against in the first and 13 against in the second – PEC 32/2022.
