MANAUS – A boat sank on Wednesday, 12, in the Community of Laguinho, in the Madeira channel, municipality of Nova Olinda do Norte (134 kilometers from Manaus). According to the Fire Department, the small boat was occupied by six people, three adults and three children.

The accident occurred at 5 pm, according to the corporation. Also according to the Fire Department, the information about the wreck was passed on by acquaintances, making it impossible to have the full name and age of the victims. The Civil Defense of the municipality went to the scene in an attempt to rescue any survivors. The team also requested support in the rescue of the victims.

The commander of the river platoon was informed and arranged for a team to travel to the city. A team of divers embarked at 6am, this Thursday, 13, on a flight bound for the site.
