MANAUS – One of the great promises of the current crop of artists who represent the popular contemporary music from Amazonas, the singer and songwriter Gabi Farias debuted, on the last 18th, her first studio album ‘Enchente’.

The authorial work floats – or rather, dives deep into a mix of pop, but with the richness and poetry of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) and follows the line of Gabi’s first release, the EP ‘Vazante’. The release has 11 tracks, ten participations of other artists from Amazonas and is available on all digital platforms.

In January, CENARIUM MAGAZINE had exclusively published the tracklist of the album, which has collaborations with Gramophone, Um Clover, Bel Martine, República Popular, Karen Francis, Gabriella and Luli Braga, Sistilho, Gabe Ax and Guilherme Bonates.

Gabi celebrated the scope of her newest work. “Everything is so recent. It’s a very big mix of feelings. My mind is still not completely clear about everything I’ve experienced and what we’ve been through as a collective, I mean, me and the people who embraced the project”, recalls the artist.

The studio album is the result of a collective funding campaign made by Gabi in 2021. “Seeing this work released, being so well received and welcomed by people fills my heart in a way I can’t describe”, Gabi explains.

The singer says that the comments have been extremely positive and people have identified with and recognized the ideas she proposed in the song. Gabi tries to bring the appreciation of her Amazonian origins into her lyrics.

“We are surrounded by insecurity and expect people to welcome our work, but we never know if it will have the impact we want it to have. So far, everything I have seen has been very positive. I am very happy,” stresses Farias.

Independent Work

The album, produced independently, counts on the musical production of the Amazonas’ Viktor Judah, André Ethos, and Guilherme Bonates, besides the singer herself, who signs the artistic and sound direction of the album together with Viktor Judah.

On the last day, the singer had shared with her fans the music video for ‘Enchente’. The megaproduction has scenes shot in a natural setting and the 25-year-old artist makes reference to life experiences in the independently made production.
