MANAUS – The inquiry to investigate possible negligence in skydiving involved in an accident, in the last day 15, which caused the death of Ana Carolina Silva skydiver and the disappearance of the lawyer Luiz Cardelli, is being investigated by the 12th Integrated District of Police (DIP), located at Avenida Professor Nilton Lins, in the neighborhood Parque das Laranjeiras, in Manaus.

The investigation led by the titular delegate Mauro Soares, is in its initial phase after the opening of the inquiry. “The procedures were opened in the 12th DIP, we are investigating the causes of the accident and, next week, we will already start the hearings,” informed the delegate to the CENARIUM MAGAZINE.

In a press conference held on the morning of Wednesday, 20, after six days of searches, the agents and the family said they still believe in the survival of Luiz Cardelli, by the military history and experience in the Amazon jungle.

“All efforts are being committed to rescue, especially alive, this warrior [Luiz]. His parachute was found loose, as in procedure from which it was removed, so we continue the search believing he is alive,” commented the lawyer and family friend, Athos Cardoso.

Jessica Santos, Cardelli’s ex-wife, lives in Curitiba and is in Manaus to accompany the search and also believes that Luiz will be found alive. “We don’t have any precise information [about where he is], but we have a very strong feeling that Luiz Henrique is alive, that’s why we have put all our efforts and call on the population to unite with us and find Luiz alive.

Double the value

The friend and partner of the missing skydiver, Leonardo Menezes, is responsible for receiving information from people who are collaborating and see clues or find the skydiver. “We have doubled the reward because we need help,” he says.

The paratrooper’s family has released the increased reward offer to R$20,000 to anyone who locates or has information on the lawyer’s whereabouts.

Recall the case

On Friday afternoon, 15, at least 14 skydivers made jumps at the Aeroclub of Amazonas, located in the Flores neighborhood, South-Central Zone of Manaus. After the jump, a strong storm hit the capital, changing the route of at least four skydivers.

At the time, two of them managed to land precariously near the Compensa neighborhood, and two others fell into the water, between the Jornalista Phelippe Daou Bridge and the Cacau Pirêra district. So far, the two missing, only the body of young Ana Carolina Santos da Silva, 27, was found on Saturday morning, 16.

The Department of Public Safety has set up a crisis cabinet and continues conducting searches to find Luiz Cardelli. In all, 74 agents of the security forces are providing support in the operation.

In a note released on Saturday, 16, the Aeroclube do Amazonas regretted what happened and Ana Carolina’s death. The flight school also reported that it is providing all necessary support for the search for Luiz Henrique and welcoming the victims’ families.
